Topic: Can Simulation Help to Find the Sources of Wheel Damage?

Abstract:

The purpose of the proposed paper is to investigate the roots of rolling contact fatigue of the wheels of three pice bogies at the Swedish iron ore company LKAB given the high level of damage, particularly in winter. The investigations are performed by using the Multibody simulation code GENSYS. Different weather and track conditions are considered. The model is validated by comparing with measured track forces. Shakedown map analysis is used for parameter studies.
