Biography: Patrick Ameen has 43 years of railroad industry experience beginning during college as a Carman Helper/Car Inspector in the Car Department of the Milwaukee Road and ending as Manager AAR & FRA Procedures. After graduating from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science degree he spent 10 years at TTX Company in the Controller’s and Equipment Departments in Chicago, ending with Manager Field Maintenance Operations. He earned an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago in 1987.
Pat went to the Association of American Railroads in 1989 as Director Rules & Inspection in the Mechanical Division. From 1995-1997 he was Executive Director-Mechanical in the Technical Services Division and was Assistant Vice President-Technical Services in the Safety & Operations Department from 1998 until leaving in 2008 to join Amsted Rail Company, Inc. to launch their new telematics business unit as Vice President & General Manager, IONX LLC. Pat’s current position is Vice President Industry Relations for Amsted Rail. He is proud to serve on the AAR’s Associate Advisory Board, the AAR Asset Health Strategy Committee and the Railway Supply Institute’s Board of Directors. Pat and his wife Elaine reside in Middleburg, Virginia.
