Biography: Kelvin Chiddick is an Entrepreneur and an Inventor, a qualified Industrial Chemist who holds numerous world patents on Friction Management products, as well as various other products.
Kelvin moved to Vancouver from South Africa in 1988. In 1990 he invented the first positive friction product, a “Center Plate Lubricant” which was used to lubricate, yet control hunting in the center bowl of rail cars. Kelvin then collaborated with Dr Joe Kalousek of the NRC to develop a solid stick product to generate “High Positive Friction” between the wheel and rail of Transit vehicles.
Kelvin later developed a solid stick flange lubricant and a liquid Top of Rail Friction Modifier. Soon after this, Kelvin founded Kelsan Technologies Corp., which was later bought out by a US company.
Kelvin has worked with Transit and Heavy Haul (Freight) systems around the world, including London Underground, Los Angeles, Vancouver Skytrain and many, many others over the past 32 years.
