This presentation explores the advantages of vehicle development and vehicle system integration to infrastructure when as built track data is available. A case study will be presented, where 3D scanned track network facilitated the optimization of a new light weight multi-degree of freedom articulated vehicle with a design focused on low ground borne signatures, as well as sensitivity to interaction with historic infrastructure. It will present specific details of the measured trackwork and compare those values to typical track standards. As well as looking at the effects of those values used in load assumptions and how they influenced the vehicle structural design and articulation architecture. The presentation will conclude with a dialog of how the availability of measured track data has a positive influence with development of efficient vehicle designs with minimal environmental disturbances.
